SYHA Hostelling Scotland is a self-funding charity for the benefit of all those wishing to learn and experience what Scotland has to offer. They provide affordable, comfortable, safe, and quality-assured accommodation. SYHA Hostelling Scotland is a member of Hostelling International.
As a not-for-profit organization, a temporary membership of GBP 3.00 per person per night is charged per guest on arrival but is free to students (relevant ID is required) in full-time education or children under 16.
When you book a bed you are booking a bunk bed within a shared dormitory with other people with shared facilities per dorm.
No stag or hen parties permitted at hostel.
From the age of 5 to 15 years, young people must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and may be accommodated in a single gendered shared room with the parent or guardian and other guests, at the discretion and responsibility of the parent or guardian. The young person/people, the parent/guardian, and the other occupants of the room must be of the same gender. SYHA advise that additional notice be given to the destination Youth Hostel when travelling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available.

SYHA advise that additional notice be given to the destination youth hostel when travelling with children, to ensure that suitable accommodation is available. Contact details can be found on your booking confirmation.
Parties with young children (under 5 years) will only be accommodated in designated family rooms, where available.
There is no capacity for extra beds or cots in a shared dormitory or private accommodation.
No stag or hen parties are permitted at any youth hostel.
Depending on location check-in is either 15.00 or 17.00. Please check these times as stated on your reservation (or on Booking.com) before arrival.
SYHA does not accept American Express cards as payment or guarantee.

為使企業能提早運用研發成果，經濟部次長卓士昭表示，針對近年來激增的專利申請案，經濟部已投入資源，提升審查能量，預估到105 年底，平均審結期間可大幅縮短為22 個月，不過，卻副總統吳敦義認為22個月時間還是太長，希望能投入更多人力和物力，縮短審結時間。
2013 年台北國際發明暨技術交易展今(26)日舉行開幕典禮，首先上台致詞的卓士昭表示，我國在參加著名國際發明展，屢創佳績，今(102)年上半年的得獎數598 件，較去(101)年同期的504件，大幅成長了逾18%，由此可見國人的創新力無比豐富，創新研發儼然成為全民運動，也是提升國家競爭力的雄厚資源。
卓士昭表示，經濟部為使企業能提早運用研發成果，因應近年來激增的專利申請案，已投入資源，提升審查能量，全力清理專利積案，已達到預期成效，101 年發明專利結案件數達5萬2425 件，較100 年結案量3萬6627 件，大幅成長43.13%，預估到105 年底，平均審結期間可大幅縮短為22 個月，將有助於企業進行專利布局及提升產業動能。
隨後上台的吳敦義表示，發明專利不能耽誤，審結時間22個月太長了，假設審查期間，在巴黎或紐約有人靈光一閃，捷足先登，對國內發明人來說太委曲，經濟部應再給智財局更多的人力和物力，縮短審結時間。
吳敦義表示，創新與研發是我國面對激烈國際競爭的利器，一直以來，我國憑藉的就是優質的人力素質，這也是台灣最大的資產。依據世界經濟論壇(WEF)今(102)年剛發布的2013 年「全球競爭力評比」，在148 個受評國家中，我國競爭力分數連續4年進步，排名比去年進步1 名，成為全球第12 名，在中項指標「創新」一項，為第8 名，排名更比去年進步6 名。這些國際上的肯定都證明了技術研發與創新將成為我國產業持續突破發展之重要推力與邁向強國的基石。
吳敦義說，為鼓勵創新，今年新設置每人獎金高達新台幣200 萬元的「總統創新獎」以鼓勵產、官、學、研界長期積極投入在產品、技術、管理、組織、行銷、服務或文化等多元創新與價值創造，期望帶動國家整體經濟發展及強化國際競爭力優勢。
吳敦義表示，期望我國能成為一個專利強國，可以將國人專利轉化為商業利基，創造出財富，所以政府除持續提升全國研發經費，以確保我國科技創新能力維持世界前茅外，經濟部也結合教育部、文化部、農委會及國科會，共同推動「國家智財戰略綱領」，選擇六大新興及四大智慧產業相關重點領域，強化高價值專利，並積極進行具發展性前瞻技術的專利布局。

全教總今（21）日出面召開記者會表示，行政院人事行政總處正研擬「軍公教人員講座鐘點費支給辦法」草案，將公立大學教授、中研院研究人員的鐘點費，從每節1600元調高至2000元，但卻要反向將中小學老師鐘點費從1600元砍成600元，若中小學老師是在本校或同縣市學校演講，就不得支領鐘點費，對此痛批政府單位是「生雞卵無，放雞屎有」沒事找事做。
全教總今日也指出，行政院人事行政總處若施行這個政策，心態就好像是唯有教授、研究人員等學術圈人才值得給較高鐘點費，但若依此模式考量，像行政院正委唐鳳學歷也僅國中肄業，也非研究人員，這樣他只能領600或1600的鐘點費；反之任一教授不管講得如何都能領鐘點費兩千，痛批此舉會大開時代倒車。
全國校長協會也表示，因應12年國教新課綱課程107上路，教育部和縣市教育局都積極規畫教師專業增能課程活動，但講座鐘點費卻要大殺價，對中小學老師的研習、共備課程，殺傷力很大，教育部應儘速向行政院反映並應公開向中小學教師說明，反對調降講座鐘點費。
對此行政院人事行政總處表示，此次軍公教人員講座鐘點費檢討，主要係考量自86年迄今近20年未調整，為期報酬合理及延聘需要，確實必須斟酌各領域專業性、市場水準及各機關與外界所提相關意見，故經綜整考量提出規畫構想，並在1月邀集相關機關會商，目前則仍於意見蒐整及評估階段，未為調整決定。
人事總處也強調，應邀專題演講，不論中小學老師或其他民間人士，這類有別一般教學或講授方式，各主辦機關得衡酌課程內容、講座專長及延聘難易程度等相關條件自行訂定，並無修正規劃，因此大砍中小學教師演講費部分，並非事實。
